Christmas 2013 in Canada: Canadian Christmas vs Portuguese traditions

Another year in Canada; another Christmas in Canada...

Since I'm Portuguese and I really miss Portuguese food (and I can't go to Portugal this year :/) I suggested my parents-in-law (who are Canadian) the idea of having a traditional Portuguese Christmas dinner, instead of the Canadian food we eat everyday (and the Canadian food I ate at last year's Christmas dinner).

I thought it would be an excellent opportunity for me to enjoy, once again, authentic food from my home country while I'm far away, and at the same time, to introduce my new Canadian family to my food, my culture, my traditions.

They said no to that idea, right off the bat... Which makes me think that if they don't accept the food from my home country, they don't accept my traditions, my culture and, ultimately, me in their family...

Anyway, I just needed to vent a little about this.
Although Canada brags itself of being multicultural, the reality is that not all Canadians are 100% accepting of having a person born in another country, in their family... :/

Depois de meses a preencher formularios e a obter um sem numero de documentos, finalmente, hoje, 13 de Agosto de 2013, enviamos a minha candidatura a Residencia Permanente no Canada, atraves de Sponsor a Spouse/Common-law Partner in Canada class.

Ontem a noite, gravei este video, em 4 partes, a explicar todos os formularios e documentos que fazem parte da minha candidatura a Residence Permanente no Canada, atraves deste programa de Spousal Sponsorship from inside Canada, para ajudar outros casais que estejam na mesma situacao.
