The Canadian Food Inspection Agency has recalled Vasco Da Gama canned seafood products because they could be contaminated with dangerous bacteria.

The recall includes more than a dozen varieties of canned mussels, octopus and squid, sardines, and mackerel sold across Canada.

Anyone who has these recalled products in their pantry is advised to toss them or return them to the store.

"Food contaminated with dangerous bacteria may not look or smell spoiled but can still make you sick. Symptoms can include nausea, vomiting, fatigue, dizziness, blurred or double vision, dry mouth, respiratory failure and paralysis.

In severe cases of illness, people may die," the CFIA said in a statement Tuesday night.

The food was imported from Portugal.

No illnesses have been reported.
